3 Reason Why Your Website Should Have a Blog


Have you thought about adding a blog to your website?  Perhaps you have a colleague or friend mention that you ‘have to have’ a blog these days.  But do they ever say why?  Having a blog can be a very important part of your business.  You might think that just because your business isn’t only focused online or you’re not a copy writer that you don’t need a blog on your site.  Although that might be true, chances are very good that your site and business could benefit from a blog.  A blog is a great place to explain concepts and give information to your customers that ultimately builds trust and credibility for your business.  Here are three reason why we think every website should have a blog.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very important to every website.  One of the best ways to optimize your site is by publishing interesting and relevant content on regular basis to your website.  Search engines want to give their users the best experience possible.  Would you want visit a local site about plumbing with 5 pages of content or would you rather visit a plumbing site with 500 pages of content?  How many pages does your site have verse your competitor?  One way for search engines to evaluate what website to show first is the number of relevant pages a site has verse what someone is looking for.  This is something that you can control by publishing articles on your blog and can increase traffic to your site.

Make Money

Blogs are way for your business to make extra money.  You can make extra revenue for your business either directly or indirectly through your blog.  As discussed above getting more traffic to your site will increase your chances of getting new customers and making more money.  Another way to make money from your blog is by adding affiliate links to your site.  For example, you can write an article about a great new plumbing tool you like to use and offer a link to supplier that sells that tool.  If someone from your site clicks through and purchases that item you will receive a small fee in exchange.   You can also place Google Ads and other display ads on your blog that can generate some passive revenue for your business as well.

Added Value

The best blogs give an added value for their clients and fans.  They offer great advice, tell stories or teach them something new – all for free.  This is something we all love about the internet.  To some degree or another we have all been able to enjoy a vast amount of information for free.  Chances are, you and your team are experts in what you do.  Why not share that with everyone that comes to your site?  Gone are the days of keeping the secret ingredients under lock and key.  Your customers will value what you have to say and be looking for the next post and asking you more about what you’re doing.
